Job Description
SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant
 
Do you want hands-on experience as an SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant supporting pupils with autism, ADHD and EBD before teacher training?
 
Could you provide calm, consistent support that helps children access learning and make sustained progress?

The Role:
You’ll work with the SENCO and class teachers to deliver targeted support for pupils with autism, ADHD and EBD. You’ll run short, structured interventions, use visual schedules and clear routines, and help pupils regulate and re-engage in lessons. You’ll adapt resources, record simple progress notes, and communicate next steps to staff and parents.
 
The Candidate:
You’re a graduate with a patient, empathetic approach and clear communication. You can follow support plans, maintain firm but fair boundaries, and build trust quickly. You’re organised, reflective, and motivated to remove barriers to learning.
 
Requirements
• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in SEN, behaviour support and pupil wellbeing.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (SEN support, mentoring, tutoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
