Job Description
Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary SEND School, Birmingham
Are you a recent graduate looking to gain meaningful experience before embarking on a career in teaching or special educational needs? A welcoming primary SEND school in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals while making a genuine difference to the lives of children with additional learning needs.

*** Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** £85 - £100 per day
*** September 2026 – July 2027
*** Primary SEND School – Birmingham
*** Providing 1-2-1 support, classroom assistance & targeted interventions

The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support children throughout the school day. You will provide 1-2-1 support for pupils who require additional guidance, assist with whole-class learning activities, and deliver small group interventions designed to develop communication, literacy, numeracy, and social skills. You'll help create a positive learning environment where every child feels supported, encouraged, and able to achieve their individual goals.

The Candidate
This role is ideal for a graduate who is considering a career in primary teaching, SEND education, educational psychology, or another child-focused profession. You should be patient, enthusiastic, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning. Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn are essential, while previous experience working with children is beneficial but not a requirement. Most importantly, you'll bring energy, compassion, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.

The School
This primary SEND school has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that is immediately evident as you walk through the doors. Staff are approachable, supportive, and passionate about providing the very best education for every child. New graduates are made to feel part of the team from day one and benefit from working alongside experienced teachers, skilled teaching assistants, and other graduates who are also beginning their careers in education. With excellent support, regular guidance, and a collaborative culture, this is the perfect environment to gain invaluable classroom experience while developing the skills needed for a successful career in education.

Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
